TOYOTA OWNERS! Please NEVER Do THIS to Your Toyota!

A Toyota Master Diagnostic Technician and ToyotaLexus speciality shop owner shares one singular thing that you should never do to your Toyota

Toyota Owners PLEASE NEVER DO THIS TO YOUR TOYOTA! I have been talking about this for as long as my channel have existed and I hope you all follow this recommendation to avoid issues and have your Toyota for a very long time without issues.

It breaks my heart every time I speak with a Toyota Owner who has an oil consumption problem in an engine that wasn’t affected by any manufacturing issue simply because they didn’t catch the 10k oil change in time.

It is one of the worst ideas and one I wish would change in the future. Please change your oil in your Toyota engine every 5000 Miles or 6 months whichever comes first. Use good quality oil.

The owner of this 2015 Toyota Camry is one of the nicest folks I have ever met. He had to find out this way why a 10k mile oil change interval is not a good idea.

Hope this helps everyone avoid issues with their car with proper maintenance, care and understanding of why things are done at specific times and intervals.

  1. I remember back 25 years ago I saw a piece on Phil Donahue or somewhere that if you, after purchasing a brand new car, If you change the oil after 500 miles then again at 1000 miles, and again at 1500 miles that your engine will last 3 or 4 times longer because you remove ALL OF THE MANUFACTURING METAL BURRS AND TRACE METALS from manufacturing. I always thought it was good science but I've never purchased a new car so I've never been able to test it. What do you all think, Internet?

  2. Always made my oil change myself, never burned out an engine. However, I have been changing my oil every 8,000, I will change it every 5,000 now. Love that guy, very knowledgeable, with a lot of experience and most importantly very honest.

  3. I only have one question for you where is your shop I have my tc scion soon ready for its first rebuild and I dont mind paying the bill to you cause I see your going to do a clean job email me back here please thank you

  4. Thanks for the time you took to explain everything You really sent the message about how important the oil change is. You'll love this…My first car was a 2nd hand Olds Dynamic 88. I was fanatical about oil changes and, at the time oil was pretty cheap. I used to change it every 1,000 miles!!! and the filter every 2nd change. Even with that I started to hear tap-tap-tap and it turned out to be a Push Rod. I have no idea what the previous owner did when it came to oil changes and maybe it was due to go anyway. I had the car for a few years with no other engine problems…likely the oil chnages helped with that.

  5. Im 5? Years old. Dad taught me my entire ife to chage the oil at 2500 miles. We always drove jags minis alfas triumphs and drove them hard. Raced scca for decades. Way before synthetic oils and we never had an engine failure on any vehicle we owned. Thats a very large number of vehicles. Dont know who came up with 10k oil changes or when it happened but i wouldnt do it even with any of my ex girlfriends cars. Well one of them id drive it with nuts and bolts in place of oil.

  6. Why is the recommended oil change interval so different from region to region? In the US it looks like the recommended intervals seem to be very short, where as in Europe they are much longer. In the US it's common to have 5k to 7k mile intervals (or 1 year), in Europe intervals are from 10k to 30k miles (or 2 years).
But it also seems like oil changes are much cheaper in the US, because a standard oil and filter change in Europe will easily cost $400-600 each time. So the extreme cost might be the reason they try to advertise very long intervals, even though it shortens the lifespan of the car.

  7. My 2008 Corolla. 98 highway miles per day. (weekends see mixed usage) Mobil 1 synthetic oil, Wix filter. Changed at approximately every 10 – 12,000 miles.
Current mileage approximately 430,000 (slightly extrapolated based on consistent driving habits because odometer stopped at 299,999)
    Still drive it every day.

  8. Change oil sooner and use “good oil”.
Define good oil. By brand? That’s subjective. I worked with a mechanic who wouldn’t put Valvoline in his mower. What is a good oil?

  9. Id never go 10k on any mtor with any oil. Ive run castrol syntec since it was first available. I had in excess of 20 vehicles. I found myself driving one of my mr2 more that the others. I missed an oil change and then some. I had 7500 miles on the oil. I panicked. Pulled the dipstick and it looked like new. Wasnt even remotely brown still gold. I changed it and went on driving it like i stole it. I drove that thing like a go cart. Ive run the castrol synthetic in everything from my lamborghini on down to my lawnmowers. Boats 4x4s it has never failed me. I dont care how many miles they say you can get on any oil. Its so much cheaper to change it than a motor on a priceless vehicle.

  10. i"m glad I found this channel. Great stuff. But, I have one question, and it's about the "6 months" thing. If I change my oil (and I do, using full synthetic oil) AND DON'T DRIVE THE CAR FOR SIX MONTHS, why does the oil need to be changed again?? If I drive it 100 miles in six month, or 4000 miles in six months, why would the oil require changing. Does oil have a shelf life???
I don't think anyone would claim that oil goes bad without being used. That's why I dispute the "every 5000 miles or six months, whichever comes sooner" advice.
I strictly follow the 5000 miles rule on my own vehicles, but cannot understand why changing it sooner than that just because a certain number of days has elapsed would be required.
    Change my mind….?
