Communication and PR Officer – Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH

The “Employment-oriented MSME Promotion and Trade for Employment Projects” in Jordan is seeking a “Communication and PR Officer” - on a full time base employment.
In this context, the position holder fulfils the following tasks:
Tasks
1. Develop and implement communication strategies
The position holder is responsible for
Supporting the project teams in developing and implementing effective communications and PR strategies, including communication guidelines for projects’ partners if and when needed
Using appropriate outlets for communications and PR (social media, print, online press, etc.)
Establishing and maintaining contacts with the national media as well as relevant staff at projects’ political and key partners
Monitors and captures publications / press coverage on the projects’ activities
Acts as focal contact point for communication for the two projects towards GIZ main office
Organizes informational sessions for projects’ staff on use of new or improved communication tools and/or forms
2. Developing communication materials
The position holder
Produces and professionalizes PR and communication materials such as factsheets, flyers, press releases, regular newsletter for partners
Assists in regularly developing visual materials for communication and PR (incl. photo and video)
Builds photo and video databases of the projects and secures continuous updates and easy accessibility / usage of databases for projects’ staff
Supports the technical advisors in publication planning and design
Manages the necessary coordination processes to produce publications and materials in accordance with GIZ and donors’ standards (e.g. visibility requirements, corporate design, standards for content)
Manages external sources for design and print if appropriate, and in cooperation with the teams and respective procurement officer
Assists in updating projects’ websites and/or pages on social media
Documents continuously all communication / PR material on GIZ document management system including production and regular update of overviews on available communication material
3. Support to Event management
The Communication Officer
organises national media events and tours if necessary
assists project staff with all media and communications activities related to events (drafting and sending press releases, compiling, assembling and distributing media information materials for specific target groups, visual documentation of events)
participates in organising events and guiding/managing further service providers related to PR (incl. booth builders, photographers, press)                                                        
4. Other duties/additional tasks
The position holder
represents the interests and always acts on behalf of GIZ
performs other related duties and tasks at the request of management
regularly checks the changes in GIZ Processes and Regulations (PuR) in relation to field of work
