In 1990, Kuwait was attacked by Iraqi troops. One of the effects of the neighboring country’s invasion of Kuwait was the introduction of a new currency. It was the Iraqi dinar, which remained in use until the liberation of the state. After regaining independence, the Kuwait authorities again restored the name of the country’s official monetary unit to the Kuwaiti dinar. In connection with the theft of a significant amount of banknotes during the invasion of Iranian troops, a new series of banknotes was introduced into circulation.

Can I pay euros and dollars in Kuwait?

In addition to the most popular tourist regions or service establishments located at the largest and most frequented routes, it is difficult to talk about the possibility of paying with a currency other than the one in force in the territory of the visited country. You can naturally bring US dollars or, in the second place, euros to Kuwait. Nevertheless, it is almost certain that we will simply have to exchange this currency in the nearby exchange office for Kuwaiti dinars. This is not the most cost-effective and recommended option by us. It is definitely better to buy Kuwaiti dinars still in Poland, although it is not easy to obtain the currency. It can be found only at selected currency exchange points.
