I've overfilled my Corsa C with oil and I need to drain it. I know there's a bolt on sump on the bottom from your other cracking video, but if I can't get at it, will the excess oil drain out through the pressure switch if I loosen the bolt all the way off? Not bothered if it makes the engine a bit oily. CHeers
quick question, you see that green seal? is that able to be purchased anywhere? because i am have the problem where the leaking is coming from the oil switch but I think its the seal?
Hi, I've got a Vauxhall Corsa Breeze 1997, 1.2 with 82k mileage. I've owned it from almost a year now. I've covered more than 12k in a year and this vehicle has been an excellent companion. I had a full service done at 80k which includes engine oil, oil filter, fuel filter, and air filter. I also replaced the middle and back box of the exhaust. And now, this week, I've noticed something unusual after car being parked overnight. Some water / oil drops/pool on the ground closer to the Front right of the car just closer to the bumper. It's been happening since 3,4 days now. I popped the hood and was surprised to see that the engine and surrounds are covered in a layer of oil. I checked the coolant level, it was perfect and clear in the coolant tank. Then I checked the oil level, it was perfect as well and oil quality is still very good as it's just done 2k since the service. The car is still running perfectly. No warning / no over heating. But it's just the oil or something has been leaking somewhere. Could you please help me in finding the fault. What do you suggest in these cirsumstances? Would that be this oil pressure switch or could be the head gasket? Many thanks in advance!
wifes vauxhall agila 2005 3 cyclinder–blew the oil pressure switch 16 months ago—got fixed in garage-yesterday she noticed oil light on coming from mot centre in cookstown(nothing noticed there)————i checked it and switch blown again engine covered in oil—replaced-checked oil level i was putting in was correct and car appears to be running ok no oil leaks —what causes this or do i need to get something else checked before it happens again and damages engine-she did drive about 6 miles oil light coming on and off at that stage-oil level was ok on last sat as i checked it and coolant———-is there something specific causes switch to blow out like that–80,000miles on car-regularly serviced–thanks for help
yes its looks like a horror story when you open the bonnet but when them switches go its pisses out .so good luck to all you corsa drivers that indeed it is the pressure switch x
no i dont get you, dude, when oil is leaking from the oil switch, the switch and washer needs replacing, making sure you replace the copper washer aswell, otherwise you will still have a leak. clean off any spilage, run engine and recheck for leaks, ok good luck.liam.
Thanks for the reply… That's a relief as i thought mine was blocked (had a cheap filter collapse in there once). Car still runs fine so i'm guessing it's nothing to worry about.
Is it normal for some oil to remain in the oil filter tube after draining from the sump? I removed the oil filter, looked down into the hole and could see old oil filling half the tube… I left the car to drain for over half an hour too!
wife overfilled agila with oil-drove 4 miles and saw oil undercar-i looked at it-oil pouring out of centre of oil pressure switch-im assuming this is meant to happen if overfilled?i ordered new one on net-following your video when i replace switch-should problem be fixed?-car totally drained of oil-it takes 3 not 4 litres which ill put in when switch fitted and that plug or lead replaced into end off pressure switch?-should this fix the problem? thanks for help
turn it anti clock wise with a ,22mil wrench, and at the same time get a friend to exert an out ward preasure with a 12mm open ended wrench, it should come out. you may have to reem the threads on the cylinder, head/block, before fitting the new switch.good luck.
hello ive got a vauxhall corsa 1.2 16v and my oil pressure switch is gushing oil but i cant undo it, the switch just spins in the thread, how do i get it out?
Thank you Liamautomechanic for your video. I have no experience at all with part replacing or any sort of repairs but for the first time I managed to fix the car myself. Thanks again and God bless you.
I have the same problem but mine is with an astra 1.7 cdti with a z17dtl engine. My part is similiar to yours but i can't find where the part fits in? nor can the mechaninc weird because vauxhall have the exact same part
oh man, thanks you soooooooo much for this video, i was quoted 35quid for replacing this part – after checking your video, i went to a parts shop and got for 6.50…am off to replace it now…thanks alot …
Can not thank you enough! God knows what I'd have been charged for this given that I have "mug" written across my forehead. Excellent stuff. Made an intimidating job very straight forward.
cheeers for that, i was reading on the forums and they were saying all sorts, but after watching your vid, i did the same and piece of cake…. Mmmm cake!

aye you will see some old oil in the oil filter well, or casing.

yea, but check the threads on the cylinder block for damage, run a remmer tool if you need to clean the threads, before you fit the new oil switch.
At first the switch popped out, and i can put it back on. Will it help if i change the oil switch?
Timing chains away on that motor !
just send a fiver to a charity of your choice, same thing, thanks.
Thanks Liam, if I ever meet you I owe you a pint!

My 1.0L ecotec has just lost all its oil suddenly & is very oily around this switch, could this be the fault I have?
