My mate Neil Burgess and I continue upgrading the suspension on his 2007 BMW Mini Cooper S rally car. Having improved the front by adding some increased caster bushes, adjustable camber strut tops and a pair off adjustable Ohlins shock absorbers we then had to modify our freshly refurbished subframe to make it all fit! With that all done and ready for setting up, this week we turn our attention to the rear suspension and set out to make the rear toe and camber adjustable. But will this thoroughly modern Mini be as easy to upgrade as you’d think?…

Pretty sure i learned about bi-metallic corrosion in school…….maybe the car designers missed that bit………..or maybe its our old friend profit……..and bollocks to the customer it all bolts up lovely in the factory
I know this is old, but maybe I'll get a response. That art on the wall over your shoulders includes what I assume is a poster or print that is reminiscent of my 68 Mustang I passed on to the next generation. I like it. Maybe if Edd pops in, he could glance for a label, or maybe somebody else recognizes it. I know I could do an image search, but expect I'd have to expect millions.

Here's a basic tip. Remove the brake MC cap. That way it's easier to compress the caliper.

Does anyone know the model of the Milwaukee Impact Driver Ed uses?
Appreciate the camera work there – allowing us to keep an eye on the pressure gauge whilst the chaps were trying to press out the bush. Really helps to make the viewer feel involved, great direction.

Glad Edd did his own thing. In retrospect he should've done this a long time ago. His creative fixes and diagnosis is what the lost art of mechanics really was.

Hardest job i have done on my R53 was undoing the bolts on the 4 arms. Bought spares and just cut the old ones out as recessed heads were completely rusted and no chance of getting spanner on

Hello Edd! Thank you for this series; once again getting my 'fix' (pun).
With hindsight being what it is and the limited tool set available to me, I would have cut two (2) cross sections from that suspension bush, opposite each other, then pried out the two halves.
Which leads me to a question: is that bangin' (desirable) arbor press available in the U.S. do you know and regardless, what brand is it?

Ah Mini rear brakes, if they give grief they will. Found you need to be just Manly about and pry the pads overt the disc.
Love this show already and only a few episodes in. The way that there’s more than 2 or 3 things wrong with the car and the detail that goes in to repairing/replacing. I watch WD thinking “yeah I could totally buy a substandard car and do it up and sell it on”. The new show with Edd actually opened my eyes seeing that it’s not actually like that. For instance this mini, replacing the bushes with the press….
Washing the inside of the RR fuel tank and replacing the fuel lines…. Then making the magic switch to test the pump then working out that the plug cables needed switching… love it
Love how involved these videos are at every step! And no other music or anything to disturb the video! Although I'm sure people would love a 'peaceful' type video with gentle music in the background of you working paired with the mechanic sounds etc. Look up 'Dream Build MTB' videos by Gee Milner, you'll get the idea! Keep it up mate!
You Brit's are seemingly so proper all of the time. After dealing with that stuck caliper piston I'd already be annoyed. With regards to that stuck ABS sensor I thought the comment of how it would be "quite interesting" rather low keyed. I'd be more like "BLARG! You stupid bleep, bleep, bleep mother bleep pile of bleep*" *ROFL
